“I have a new sample pack to give away. Still messing with the DMX/Prommer combo so…Here is the DMX606.” -Goldbaby

“Our samples range in tempo from 120 to 132bpm.

Although the techno sound is often thought of as minimal, it’s also one that gives you plenty of scope for experimentation, so think of these sounds as a starting point for your productions and see where they take you.”

I have recently entered into The Sounds Remix contest featured on Indaba. Please listen to my submission.

I normally don’t write reviews/rants on VST’s however, I’m always amazed by what Variety of Sound has to offer. I already was familiar with Density and other Variety of Sound VST’s ( BootEQ or epicVerb). However, this latest version of Density has already proven to  be a plugin that I will always keep handy in my toolbox. Density MKII is a mix of a compressor and a limiter. What makes Density standout amongst other similar plugins is the fact that it is not modeled after any other piece of software/hardware. Making the experience of working with Density exciting. Density MK II has brought new life into my mixes. Primarily, I took another look at my latest remix for an Indaba contest with the use of Density MK II. Density MK II is easy to use and thank you Variety of Sound for making the GUI easy to read. The use of gain reduction comes in handy and I feel as if the limiter gives me back control of my mix by influencing the dynamics.  Overall, if you haven’t please check out Density MKII and experiement. Also, there is a handy PDF document that comes along with Density. Read that manual!! That is the best advice I have for new users.

Looking for some new IR’s? Now there is a library with various IR Samples available.

“An Impulse Response (IR) is an audio recording used to recreate the acoustic characteristics of a specific environment or filter. Recording a gunshot or a balloon pop provides a good approximation of a space’s impulse response. More accurate measurement techniques use swept sine waves or other specially encoded signals to minimize unwanted noise. Whether depicting a real space (such as a church with lots of echo), or a specific piece of audio gear (such as a classic tape machine), an impulse response allows one to digitally apply the sound captured by the IR.”

I enjoy coming across little gems like these. Its not everyday you find a refill based on Mario Paint. Thought I share it with you all.

From Synthesizers.se – “Mario Paint Reason Refill! Got quite inspired by all those youtube videos with Mario Paint sequences, but, well, I kinda want midi sync.

One funny thing though, try playing “face” at around G2. Seriously, what is that sound? :) I love sound designers who just pitch shift. Who needs multi mode filters, advanced synthesis engines and all that stuff when there is… face. I wonder if it is some kinda easter egg-ish thing going on or if Nintendo thinks that’s how faces are supposed to sound. Well- here it is. Go create!

“I decided tonight that i would try to do some bending stuff with my pss-7 again since i have only messed with it once and never really did much, after awhile of messing around i found 3 contact points that would basically cause the unit to freak out in a different way every time.

The reason i call it the mystery bend is you never know what your going to get sometimes it will loop, other times it will be a Fx sound and it will fade all on its own other times it just does what ever it wants its a mystery, Hence the name.” Via SeeYouInSleep
