Hello there fellow create:audio readers. I’ve been in a bit of a crunch in time lately. However, I have not forgotten about updating this blog. This month has been quite busy with freeware coming out. I’ll be trying to implement an AU freeware section in the future in order to attract more readers to this blog. Anyways, here is whats been coming out or simply what great freeware is available that I recommend.

Kriminal – Omaha (Windows)

Oh Kriminal! Now this is a great developer who turns out great little vst’s. Recently they have released Omaha which is based/inspired on the CS-5, a 1979 synth from Yamaha.  A little bit of a background on the CS-5. The CS-05 is a single oscillator monophonic synthesizer with a 3 octave, 37-note (C-C) keyboard. the voice architecture consists of a single VCO, a VCF, a LFO, and a simple envelope generator. Who played this synth??? Dave Ball of Soft Cell, Electronic Dream Planet, Pascal Gabriel, Martin Gore of Depeche Mode” (Courtesty of SynthMuseum). So you guys know the drill by now.

Human Touch Technology – Sika (Windows & Mac)

Sika is a free sound font player dedicated to oriental and Arabic scales with 9 popular oriental instruments and the ability to play Arabic traditional scales accompanied with beat track (Maksoom style)

Wall of Sound – RoboVoice

This VST has a sweet GUI in my opinion. Its a vocoder effect and available for windows.

Well the weekend is here so I thought I’d update the  blog with a few freeware select items. Institute of Communication Acoustics have released a free reverb effect for Windows users. “The core of this free and open source software is a convolution engine which features signal processing with low latency (1.3 ms at 48 kHz sampling rate) and uniform processing load.” Sounds pretty good to me and I’ll be checking it out over the weekend. In the meantime you can click on the image located below to be redirected to the site for the download.

I enjoy coming across little gems like these. Its not everyday you find a refill based on Mario Paint. Thought I share it with you all.

From – “Mario Paint Reason Refill! Got quite inspired by all those youtube videos with Mario Paint sequences, but, well, I kinda want midi sync.

One funny thing though, try playing “face” at around G2. Seriously, what is that sound? :) I love sound designers who just pitch shift. Who needs multi mode filters, advanced synthesis engines and all that stuff when there is… face. I wonder if it is some kinda easter egg-ish thing going on or if Nintendo thinks that’s how faces are supposed to sound. Well- here it is. Go create!

“These need to be installed by hand, in the usual way:
Mac AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
Mac VST: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
Win VST: Wherever your VSTPlugIns folder lives

We look forwards to hearing what you think of these!

Also, if you really like this, and want to encourage us to add features, or maybe you reckon we should stick it to the man, and pour all our time into doing things like this.. let us know:”

“I decided tonight that i would try to do some bending stuff with my pss-7 again since i have only messed with it once and never really did much, after awhile of messing around i found 3 contact points that would basically cause the unit to freak out in a different way every time.

The reason i call it the mystery bend is you never know what your going to get sometimes it will loop, other times it will be a Fx sound and it will fade all on its own other times it just does what ever it wants its a mystery, Hence the name.” Via SeeYouInSleep
